Course Description
A BTEC National Award is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You focus on a particular subject area It is equivalent to One A Level which means when you have finished the course you can use it to get a job - or a better job if you are already working. Or you can use it alongside other qualification to go into higher education first. A BTEC National Award is normally taken full time alongside other qualifications or by people in employment and is equally suitable for school leavers and mature students. Entry Requirements You will normally need to have at least one of the following: ?A BTEC First Certificate or Diploma ?An Intermediate GNVQ ?At least four GCSE's at grades A-C ?Appropriate work experience Course Content The course is made up of 8 units (6 Core units and 2 Option units)?Government, Policies & Public Services?Team Leadership in the Public Services?Citizenship & The Public Services?Physical Preparations & Fitness?Understanding Discipline in Public Services?Crime & Its Effects on Society.?Team Development in Public Services.?Diversity & the Public Services. How will I be assessed? All units are graded as Pass, Merit, or Distinction. Although there are no exams, each unit will be assessed through a combination of written assisgnments, reports, presentations, in-class tests, role play and practical demonstrations. An overall grade is awarded for the qualification at Pass, Merit or Distinction. What can I do next? Learners may progress to a BTEC National CertificateDiploma in Public Services. BTEC National Awards are valued by employers and Higher Education (Universities and Colleges). Students go into careers such as the Emergency Services, the Armed Forces and Security.
