Course Description

Plumbing ASET National Award Level: Level 1 Full-time How long is the course/training? This is a one-year course. What will I be doing on the course/training? You focus on different areas, learning key plumbing principles and the theory of hot and cold water systems, electrical supply and safety. Within this course you will be required to demonstrate safe working practices. Key Skills are essential units of this course. Course/Training Code: To be confirmed Where do I study/train? Falcon House, Sowton What are the entry requirements? You must have 3 GCSE E grades including Maths and English. If you do not have these grades you may still be able to study this course subject to an interview with a course specialist. You will be required to demonstrate that you have a high degree of enthusiasm and the commitment to succeed. What can I do after this course/training? There are two progression routes. You can do an apprenticeship, training with the college part-time or you can do the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Plumbing as a full-time course. What key skills will I do? You will do key skills in Communication and Application of Number. What residential/work experience is there? None specified What faculty is the course/training in? Construction How to Apply? Please apply for 2010. How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed? The course consists of formal classroom based theory and practical sessions in the workshop. In the workshops you will build up competence in carrying out practical exercises. You will be assessed by multiple choice exams and practical tests. What facilities are there? Training bungalow Trade specific classroom Learning resource centre Refectory What will the course/training cost me? This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course). If you are 19 or over please contact us to find out costs. Additional costs: You will need to be equipped with basic stationery for all your sessions. You will need to have your own overalls and safety boots- advice will be given at interview.
